In the daily duties of my job I help my customers make sure they have a clear title to their property.  I work with title companies and attorneys to get the documents needed to be recorded.  I know these documents and the legislation that governs how these documents get recorded.  It may seem straightforward, but there is a huge impact on people's lives where legal and property issues are concerned.  I take the responsibility of this job very seriously.  My many years in banking has taught me how regulation changes have to implemented immediately to stay in compliance.  Just like the Michigan Legislature makes changes that can effect the Register of Deeds office.  For example in September 2007, Michigan Legislature passed Senate Bill 0303 (2007) Public Act 58 of 2007.  This Act covers Consumer protection; privacy; social security numbers in recorded documents made available for inspection by register of deeds.
